A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 29 October 2025) informs: "Audregnies, église Saint-André. Charters from the Abbey of Saint-Ghislain, dating from 975 to 1200, refer to this locality as Aldrinia, Aldrinioe, Aldrineoe, Audrignies, and Audergnies. Little is known about the first place of worship (10th or 11th century), that was originally a dependency of the parish of Montignies-sur-Roc. The altar of Audregnies was given to the episcopal chapter of Cambrai, a fact confirmed in 1181 by a decree of Pope Lucius. Around 1220, Alard de Ville founded a Trinitarian or Mathurin monastery in Audregnies. The parish church was placed under the control of the Trinitarians, who collected the tithe from 1220 to 1783. The second parish church was built in the 15th century, in gothic style. It was small and unremarkable, notable only for its lord's chapel for the lords of Audregnies who lived in the ancient fortified castle. By 1722, the church was dilapidated, a fact complained about by the mayor and alderman to the lord in 1736, a complaint repeated by their successors in 1765 and 1790. In 1783, Joseph II, Emperor of Austria, decreed the suppression of a number of religious houses. The clerk of the court was tasked with liquidating the Audregnies monastery. The paintings and church ornaments were thus distributed to the parishes of the diocese. The monastery church was demolished. The parish of Audregnies only gained independence in 1801
The present (third) church was built 1871 and dedicated to St. Andrew. KIK-IRPA dates the font 1591-1610. At that time, Audregnies was not an independent parish yet ? https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10014622".
