A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 13 February 2026) informs: "Brasménil, église Saint-Géry. The commune of Brasménil resulted around 1800 from the merger of two fiefs belonging to the barony of Leuze: Bras and Maisnil. The hamlet of Grosmont was also part of it, but is located closer to the village of Wiers. After the commune was created, parts of neighboring villages were added during the time of the French Revolution. The place of worship and the castle of Fontenelle were located in the hamlet of Bras, while the magnificent castle of the same name (Menay) stood in the hamlet of Maisnil, along with its own castle chapel. The inhabitants of both hamlets shared a chapel under the direct authority of the parish of Roucourt. There is no information regarding the date of this chapel. The ownership of the territory was always disputed: sometimes it belonged to France, sometimes to Spain/Austria. In the 17th century, vicars dependent on the parish of Roucourt resided in Brasménil and celebrated services in the chapel located on the site of the present-day church. There was also a vicar in the castle of Maisnil, who held a mass every day. Because of the distance to chapel of Brasménil, in 1803, bishop Hirn of Tournai allowed the inhabitants of Grosmont to fulfil their religious obligations and have their children baptized in Wiers. For funerals, weddings and Easter communion, they had to go to Roucourt and, from 1804 onward, to Brasménil. In 1825, Grosmont was entirely transferred to the parish of Wiers. Also in 1803, the chapel in Bras was established as a branch parish. It soon was too small. In 1871, a church was built in the Neo-Gothic style and consecrated in 1874 by Bishop Dumont of Tournai.
Parish registers begin in 1803 for baptisms. KIK-IRPA dates the limestone baptismal font to the 17th century. Its very simple form does not allow it to be attributed to a specific style or artistic period. It is likely that the font dates from the creation of the parish in 1803. https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10062492".
