The entry for this church in the Dutch Wikipedia [https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sint-Petruskerk_(Gingelom)] [accessed 24 February 2026] reports a 13th-century baptismal font in it: "een 13e-eeuws Romaans doopvont."
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 30 January 2026) informs: "Gingolonham (966), Gengleheym (1099-1138), Genglehem (1147), Ghingelhem (1314), Ghingelheym (1367), Gingelem, Gingelom (1666), Ginglegen, Ginghelem, Gingelhem, Ghingheleem (1367). Gingelom has a rich Gallo-Roman past. Gingolonham was first mentioned in 966 in a charter of Emperor Otto I, confirming properties belonging to the Abbey of Nivelles. The lordship of Gingelom was owned by the institutions of the prince-bishopric of Liège until the early 17th century. 1139: mention of Gingelom in a charter listing the parishes obliged to offer to the “croix banaux” of Sint-Truiden. 1147: Pope Eugene III places the church of Saint John the Evangelist of Liège and its possessions under his protection, this includes the church and allodial lands of Genglehem. The chapter held the right of patronage and collecting tithes in the village, from which it amassed significant property in 1157. Little seems to be known about the church's early history. Gingelom was the baptismal church for several other parishes in the area. A new church was built in 1891-1892.
Baptismal records since 1565. The church possesses a Romanesque, limestone, square, Mosan baptismal font, said to date from the 13th century. The four corner columns and the base are not original. Jean-Claude Ghislain includes the font in the broader tradition specific to the Liège area in the late 12th c. https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/74749"
