Baptismal font of 1564 noted and illustrated in Schulin (2021) p. 297, Abb. 296: "Barock sind etwa die TB in Ev. St. Johannis zu Herford (1564) (Abb. 296". Octagonal font of monolithic appearance, broader at upper and lower ends; date '1564' carved on basin side; pointed niches of arches on the sides of the base. Complex cover with multiple decorations and carvings; counterweight(?) lifting apparatus.
A communication to BSI from Pol Hrman (e-mail of 10 February 2026) informs: "Der Taufstein stammt aus dem Jahre 1564. Der Taufdeckel kann mit einer Hebevorrichtung abgehoben werden. Taufstein : auf Grund der gefundenen Reste uns Spuren, so reichlich vielfärbig, das Milderung der Farbigkeit durch den Einfluss der Zeit erwünscht erscheint http://www.rbrinckmann.de/Herford/Kirchen/johannis.htm"
