Baptismal font of stone listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10000172] [accessed 23 January 2026]: "fonts baptismaux [...] Date: 1555 - 1555". The entry for this church in the Belgian Wikipedia [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Église_Saint-Barthélemy_de_Bousval] [accessed 23 January 2026] reports a baptismal font of 1555: "des fonts baptismaux de 1555".
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 19 December 2025) informs: "https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89glise_Saint-Barth%C3%A9lemy_de_Bousval -- 1147 : Bosonval; 1211 : Buschevael; 1282 : Bousesvals. 869 (polyptych of Lobbes Abbey): A man named Boson is said to have donated an estate to the abbey. To commemorate him, this villa was named Bosonis Vallis. However, the abbey never owned the church of Bousval, so its place of worship likely did not yet exist. The parish is mentioned as a separate entity in 980. Unlike most of its neighbors, the parish of Bousval never belonged to a monastery but to the local lords. The dedication of the church of Bousval to Saint Bartholomew is itself significant regarding the date of the church's construction or the establishment of the parish, as the cult of Saint Bartholomew only spread to our region in the 11th century, during the Crusades, when the apostle's relics were discovered, either authentic or acquired from the relic market established in Cyprus, in the Middle East. The oratory was formerly a quarter chapel, under the patronage of the lords of Bousval. Their beautiful estate was located near the church. A Romanesque chapel is believed to have existed on this site in the 12th century, of which only the western section and the narthex remain. The current quadrangular bell tower is a brick construction built on an older foundation dating from the first half of the 12th century. The first church dates back to the late 15th century, and the tombstone of one of its first parish priests, Hubert Damien (d. 1554), is located in the entrance. The building was modified between 1734 and 1738 and again in 1761 (as the Romanesque church was in ruins), and consecrated in 1764. Except for the tower, the church was completely demolished and rebuilt in 1857. Baptismal records from 1737 onwards.
