A communication to BSI fro Pol Herman (e-mail of 15 December 2025) infotms: "Listed as a villa in the Polyptique of Lobbes abbey from 868-869: Alblinium. This could mean that there already was a place of worship? Aublain had a defensive tower on a motte, mentioned in 1335, belonging to the Amblain family. This stronghold became a fortified castle of the Viscounts of Aublain. It was destroyed during the French Revolution. The village of Aublain stretches along a long ridge, at the top of which stands the church of Saint Lambert. 1096: Baldwin, Count of Hainaut, sold the castellany to Bishop Obert of Liège. This castellany belonged to the Abbey of Floreffe. It was donated by a lay sister named Hersinde. She had legitimately acquired the possession and patronage of the church from two lords, Albert and Adam de Machange. This donation was confirmed in 1188 by Raoul, Bishop of Liège. 1240: Robert, Bishop of Liège, authorized the Abbot of Floreffe to serve the church of Aublain with a secular priest. In 1310, Nicolas de Gestial, Abbot of Floreffe, deposed by the monks of his abbey, retired to Aublain, where he died in 1319. 1485: The bands of the “Boar of the Ardennes” took prisoner the monk Guillaume de Blisia, parish priest of Aublain since 1472. Unable to walk quickly enough, the unfortunate man was inhumanely massacred by the soldiers. 1501: Alberti Chabotteau, priest and canon was the former prior and pastor of the church in Aublain. The old building dated from the late 16th century. This present classical-style building was constructed in 1755. Baptismal records: since 1823
Literature says that the Baroque baptismal font, made of Mosan limestone, dates from the 17th century. KIK-IRPA dates : 18th c. https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10078509"
