A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 7 January 2026) informs: "Parish of the Finding of the Holy Cross. The baptismal font in question is one of the oldest elements of the current church in Łazany. The church was built between 1586 and 1590, funded by Sebastian Lubomirski. The furnishings of the original church in Łazany can be read about in the episcopal visitation of Cardinal Jerzy Radziwiłł conducted in 1597. In it, the visitor mentions a stone baptismal font, possibly identical to the one currently preserved: "Item Habet Fontem lapideum achenum mundum cum aqua munda in se continentem bene clausum." Subsequent visitations in 1617, 1629, and 1663 repeat brief information about a stone baptismal font with a copper bowl and cover. It was not until a document by Bishop Kazimierz Łubieński, written in 1703, that the inspector noted more details about the baptismal font in question. According to this account, it was a stone work with four carved coats of arms surrounding it, set on a single-stage platform. The baptismal font's cover was made of wood and topped with a globe and a cross: "Baptisterium. Lapideum, cum quatuor incis Stemmatibus circumcirca, cum uno gradu(s). [...] Tectum baptisterii vetus coloratum ligneum, cum globo et cruce in sumitate." In 1898, the baptismal font was renovated at the initiative of the parish priest in Łazany, Father Franciszek Błachut. A sandstone, bas-relief baptismal font set on a rectangular, profiled pedestal with a recess. The octagonal shaft is decorated with a bas-relief, symmetrical floral ornament. The bowl is semicircular, knobbed; the corners bear oval shields bearing the Odrowąż, Gryf, Drużyna, and Varna coats of arms, as well as the sigils "S(ebastian) L(ubomirski)". The bowl rim bears an ornament similar to that on the shaft. The wooden cover has an octagonal base with panel decoration. It is topped with intersecting arches decorated with cabochons, capped with a sphere and an isosceles cross with trefoil-shaped arms."
