A communication to BSI by Pol Herman (e-mail of 13 January 2026) informs: "A l’origine, une quarte chapelle, dépendant de Tohogne. A small chapel existed in Barvaux well before 1600, serving Barvaux, Bohon, and Humin. At the beginning of the 17th century, it was thatched. The parish was made independent in 1605 by the Prince-Bishop of Liège, Ernest of Bavaria. An earlier church dedicated to Saint Martin was built that stood on the site of the present church; its construction date is unknown. It was repaired around 1725 and rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style between 1872 and 1876. Baptismal records start in 1608. Octagonal, limestone, Mosan, renaissance font, dated 1608. Strong resemblance with the font basin of nearby city of Durbuy (dated 1588). https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10050209".
