Baptismal font listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10109149] [accessed 11 January 2026]: "fonts baptismaux [...] pierre calcaire [...] Date: 1538 - 1538 [...] hauteur: 108.5 cm [...] inscription, gravé, : : placés sous le curé André en 1538".
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 11 January 2026) informs: "The first written mention of the name Bailus dates from 888: King Arnulf confirmed the donation made by King Lothair to the chapter of Notre-Dame of Aachen. 1180: by a charter of the Archbishop of Cologne, it is confirmed that the right of presentation of the chapel dedicated to Saint Paul belongs to the Abbey of Rolduc, as previously granted by Duke Henry III of Limburg. The imposing square tower, built of large limestone blocks in the Romanesque style, could date from the 12th century. 1184: Bailus quae juxta Lembuch. 1178: Balen. At the beginning of the 15th century, a Gothic church was built; the nave dates from the 16th century. The tower was restored in the 15th century, then again in 1773. In 1910, the whole structure was restored, with the addition of a porch and several chapels in the neo-Gothic style. Octagonal, limestone, renaissance, Mosan font with 4 heads. Probably only the basin is original. Inscription, engraved : placed under the priest André in 1538 https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10109149 -- See : https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=HALxqKFbQfv"
