The baptismal font in this church is listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10098429] and [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10098429] [accessed 10 January 2026]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] gothique [...] Date: 1501 - 1600 [...] hauteur: 110 cm". The same source dates the cover to the 18th century. The four human heads set at 90-degree angles below the upper rim include one wearing a turban-like head-dress and another (2?) of "the fool" with a fool's hat and tongue sticking out.
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (email of 9 January 2026) informs: "Engih, Engeih, Engeisc. The village is mentioned as early as 1040, and in 1050 in a charter of the Val Saint-Lambert Abbey. It was a seigniorial church, built by a local lord. Later, it became a dependency of the parish of Amay. By 1233, it had long belonged to the Flône Abbey. The Romanesque tower dated from the eleventh century and once served as a defensive tower. The old church building was primarily constructed in the 16th century, with modifications in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The church was severly damaged by the collapse of its roof in 1961. During the demolition of the church in 1969, remains dating back to the Early Middle Ages were discovered: burials from the 7th or 8th century, and especially traces of the original Carolingian chapel, 7 meters long by 5 meters wide, which in the 11th century was connected to a square defensive tower by Gothic columns supporting pointed arches. A modern church was built in 1964. Late 16th century, octagonal, limestone, renaissance, Mosan font with four heads. https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10098429"
