Baptismal font listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [ttps://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10062167] [accessed 10 January 2026] as a composite object consisting of a hexagonal basin probably of the 16th century raised now on a 1960 replacement pedestal base also hexagonal: "fonts baptismaux [...] hauteur: 106 cm" The same source shows a low-dome cover on the font; it appears modern.
A communication to BSI by Pol Herman (e-mail of 9 January 2026) informs: "Beaugnies, Bauwegnies, Vaulegnies, Bawegnez, Bonnegnies. Baugnies appears in a document from 1186. Spiritually, the altar of Baugnies was directly dependent on that of Braffe and was served by a vicar who resided in Baugnies. Tithes went to the Abbey of Liessies. The oldest elements of the church are the columns, which date from the 12th and 13th centuries. The village of Baugnies was damaged by Protestant iconoclasts from Tournai on August 24, 1545. The current church was built around 1735 and is designed in the classical style of the 18th century. A tower was added in the 18th century. The Concordat of 1801 established it as a branch church of Braffe. The reorganization of the Diocese of Tournai in 1803 established Baugnies as a parish church. Baptismal records : 1657. Only the basin of the Hainaut-type gothic font is original. Dating is difficult: maybe after the damage done in 1545?"
