A communicarion to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 7 December 2025) informs: "A manor house was built in the centre of the village, that evolved into a castle over the centuries, before disappearing in 1794 due to the French revolutionaries. Its castle chapel, dedicated to Saint Martin, served as a place of worship. It probably already existed in the 13th century, as did the nearby churches of Velaine, Jemeppe, Tamines, and Onoz, all under the patronage of the same saint. In 1303, the method of appointing the churchwarden of the chapel in the manor house was regulated by the priory of Oignies. The chapel only gradually became a parish church. In 1698, it was recorded that children in Aiseau were formerly baptized in the church of the Oignies monastery. The right to baptize was granted in 1700. Built in the castle courtyard, the chapel was demolished in 1729. It was replaced by a church erected opposite the castle. The church was consecrated in 1732 at the expense of the priory of Oignies and the community. In 1952, a new bell tower was built. In October 1970, the bell tower collapsed and the church was completely demolished. The new church was built in 1991. The 19th century marble font is located in the new church, at the northeast corner.
