An object now used as a planter outside the church of Eslava has been suspected to be the former baptismal font of nearby Abaiz, as reported in a communication to BSI by Blas Garayoa, of the Asociación Amigos de Abaiz (emial of 12 November 2024); the information included is proof of the font being used for baptism (his mother's) in the church of Abaiz in 1917, and a mid-20th century B&W photograph of the same font already disused in the ruined church; the communication further informs that in the 1970s the disused font was removed from Abaiz and placed outside the church of Eslava as a decorative planter: "A principios del siglo XX en la Iglesia Santa Elena de Abaiz se celebraba culto religioso.
The entry for the ruins of this church in Románico Digital [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/navarra_Abaiz.pdf] [accessed 30 November 2025] mentions no font in it. The entry in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (IV* Merindad de Sanguesa) menciona Abaiz como abandoned and its church in ruins for many decades; it describes the church as pre-Romanesque ["anterior al románico"]; it also notes that the baptismal font, a Gothic statue of St Mary and a plain tomb slab were in Eslava at the time.
