The baptismal font in this church is listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/17392] [accessed 29 November 2025]: "doopvont [...] marmor [...] Date: 1701 - 1800 [...] hoogte: 147 cm".
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 28 November 2025) provides historical information on the church here, from its likely Romanesque origins to the present; it further notes: "The current St. Amand's church dates back to 1776-1778. At that time, the existing 15th-century church was significantly enlarged. Baptismal registers exist from 1608 onwards. A baptismal font is documented in the church in 1671; it is not the present font. The present font, listed in KIK-IRPA [cf. supra] is made of white marble font in the Baroque style, the basin decorated with gadroons, the pedestal base moulded. Almost identical baptismal fonts stand in nearby villages of Elene, Meerbeke, Sint-Antelinks, Borchtlombeek, Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove and Pamel. There must have been a local workshop at that time. The history of these churches provide indications that the font of Aspelare dates from around 1700."
