The former funerary (burial) church of St Ursmarus (aka Ursmer) became the parish church; it has a stone font that is listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10068673] [accessed 20 November 2025]: "fonts baptismaux [...] pierre calcaire [...] gothique [...] Date: 1501 - 1600 [...] hauteur du font baptismal : 119 cm". The font consists of an octagonal basin with a double moulding below the upper rim; on a pedestal base also octagonal and moulded. The above entry includes its brass dome cover: "couvercle de fonts baptismaux [...] laiton [...] hauteur du couvercle : 48 cm".
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 17 November 202) informs: "The early history of Lobbes Abbey is known in relative detail through the fortunate and unusual survival of its annals. The monastery was founded by Saint Landelin around 645. In 1794, the last abbot, Vulgise de Vignron, and 43 monks were expelled from the monastery by French revolutionary troops. Under the law of 2 September 1796 the abbey was dissolved. Most of the monastic buildings, including the abbey church of Saint Peter, were destroyed. The books and documents were burned.
We have no information on the baptismal font(s) of the destroyed medieval abbey church of St Peter."
