Thomastown No. 3

An object noted and illustrated in two 31 July 2024 digital photographs by A.-K. D. in Wikipedia [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Font_basin_at_Brady's_Castle.jpg] [accessed 27 July 2025] as a "font base similar to the Ossory type, but also to some O'Tunny fonts in the yard of Brady's Castle in Thomastown" "Judging from its size, it is more likely a holy water stoup than a baptismal font." The object, likely a stoup rather than a font, is roughly rectangular in shape and it was obviously wall-mounted on the rough unfinished extended side; the finished sides are decorated with a well-executed Gothic window tracery; the inner well is rounded and defined by a rim moulding. Some damage present but the piece is whole, including the unfinished mounting extension at the back. This object is indexed in the Archaeological Survey of Ireland under SMR No. KK028-040008-.
