Font Notes:
A 3-D model of this font made by Archaeological Survey of Ireland may be seen in Sketchfab [https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/ballynacarrigy-baptismal-font-21826c616b174f20b5dbde1c4259b891] [accessed 25 July 2025]; its caption reads: "Octagonal-shaped baptismal font located to the rear of the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity, in Ballynacarrigy, Co. Westmeath. In Christianity". The font consists of an octagonal basin with plain side and underbowl chamfer, raised on a slender pedestal base and narrow lower base, also octagonal and plain. The inside of the basin appears to have been filled [cement?]; the upper rim shows evidence of damage and wear; the font is certainly older than the church ittself [19thC] but it would be hard to date.
