Chalice-shaped baptismal font made of metal (bronze and brass) by the Bernt Bodemann of Lübeck in 1620; the date and maker are identified in the inscription below the upper rim; also inscribed on it are Christ's monogram IHS and the emblem of king Christian IV and his motto [cf. InscriptionArea]. there is a band of inicised stylised foliage below the main inscription; the neck of the vessel is made of brass, the basin and base are bronze; the square base has the seated figures of the Four Evangelists, each holding a book and accompanied by his symbol on the left. The baptismal dish was made of silver and donated to the cathedral in 1764; it bears the coats of arms of the donating families, von Bergen and Landorph [cf. ImagesArea for source material]
