Baptismal font of granite described in the Parish web site [https://www.kirchenkreis-schleswig-flensburg.de/gemeinden/kreisgebiet-schleswig-flensburg/grosssolt-kleinsolt/unsere-kirchen.html] [accessed 24 December 2024] as a very old font decorated with the symbols of the Four Evangelists, and St. Peter and St. Paul ["Die Taufsteine sind sehr alt, in der Großsolter Kirche ist er mit den Symbolen der vier Evangelisten (Adler, Stier, Löwe, Mensch) und den Heiligen Petrus und Paulus verziert."]. The rounded granite basin has a series of trefoiled arch-heads all around; inside the arches are, as indicated above, the figures of Peter and Paul identified by the key and the sword respectively, and the book they are holding in the left hand; the source above identifies the four symbols of the Evangelists in other arch-heads: the ox, eagle and lion are easily identifiable, though the two quadrupeds lack the expected wings, and there is no 'real' angel visible, although there is a standing figure that may have been intended to represent it; another figure holding a sword in his right and, the left raised showing two fingers has not been identified; the remaining arch-heads are filled with complex floral or foliage clusters; the round-to-square base, which is of a different stone [limestone?] has the four sides framed in rope mouldings and a human head sticking out at each upper corner; the panels on the sides include: a lilly, a large bird-like animal passant to the right, perhaps an eagle, a lion passant to the left while the fourth one shows the demi-figure of a warrior, armed with sword and shield behind a crenellated border. In the grounds south of the church, towards the road, is an old basin that could meet the general design for a font basin; if it was, it may have been re-purposed as a farm or garden vat, as it has a drain hole on one of its sides.
