Noted in Riechert (2015). The Parish page [https://www.kirchenkreis-schleswig-flensburg.de/gemeinden/ev-luth-kirchengemeinde-nieharde/unsere-kirchen/st-nicolai-in-quern.html] [accessed 24 December 2024] mentions the early-17th century original wooden font here: "Besonders originell ist die Holztaufe vom Anfang des 17. Jh.. Ihre halbkugelige Kuppa ruht auf einer Platte, die von den Evangelisten getragen wird." The present baptismal font in use in this church is a composite of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a platform that contains in its centre a small statue of the Baptism of Christ by John the Baptist in the Jordan, and four larger statues of the Evangelists at the corners; it resembles the font at Kliplek, and is said to be the work of Heinrich Ringerink's workshop of about 1613. An octagonal font cover from ca. 1650 is reported and illustrated in 1936 in the Bildindex der Kunst & Architektur [http://id.bildindex.de/thing/0001716671] [accessed 24 December 2024], but it is now missing. An object that may have been considered a font in the past is reported and illustrated in the Landesamt für Denkmalpflege-Schleswig.Holstein sowie ggf. das Deutsche Dokumentationszentrum für Kunstgeschichte - Bildarchiv Foto Marburg [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Kværn_kirke_i_Sydslesvig-tidligere_granitdøbefont_eller_granitvievandskar_uden_for_kirken.jpg] [accessed 24 December 2024]
