Scene Description: Poul Nørlund (1946) a source quoted in the DK entry for this church reckoned that this granite tympanum could not have originated in this church, as the building is not made of granite but of a different stone ["fraadsten"]; another source, Otto Norn (1954), also cited in the DK entry, however, stated that the tympanum had sat above the south door of this church ["at tympanet havde siddet over kirkens syddør"]

Listed and illustrated in Mackeprang (1941) as a granite font of the "Østjydske løvefonte, den klassiske type, Sjørslevgruppen". Listed and illustrated in Danmarks Kirker [http://danmarkskirker.natmus.dk/uploads/tx_tcchurchsearch/Vejle_2699-2752_01.pdf] [accessed 15 December 2024]; the DK entry makes reference to the description in Mackeprang [cf. supra] and notes that it is akin to the Låsby-Vinderslev group, like the one in Rårup Kirke; the DK entry further notes that the font stood by the north side of the chancel arch in 1943 but was later moved to the present location; the semi-buried base was uncovered in 2016-2017. On-site notes: the side of the basin is cracked through and is held together with metal staples; not clear what the motifs on the corners of the base are; are they faces? the side panels themselves appear to have birds on them; worn.
