Holy-water stoup consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a round pedestal base; the basin has a single moulding below the upper rim as all decoration; the pedestal base is plain but the circular lower base is ribbed all around. The stone of the font appears to be one of volcanic origin. The style of the stoup would fit in the Romanesque font designs in Europe but it is quite likely of the period of the founding of the Franciscan church itself, the midto-late 16th century. [NB: we do not have the mesurements of the object but it could have been originally a font later re-purposed as a holy-water stoup]. [cf. BSI entry Santiago Atitlan No. 1 for the baptismal font in this church]
