Scene Description: the 10thC Runic stone was built into the south wall of the church; later detached -- "The Rimsø stone or DR 114 is a runestone from the 10th century near Århus in Denmark. It is one of few runestones raised after a woman, and it is raised by her son who exclaims that losing one's mother is the worst thing that can happen to a boy" [cf. Font Notes:
Listed in Mackeprang (1941) as a baptismal font of the Djurslandstypen; this author mentions also tthe south portal by the Horders workshop. The entry for this church in the Fornæs Pastorat [https://www.fornaespastorat.dk/rimso-kastbjerg-sogn/rimso-kirke] [accessed 11 December 2024] informs that the foundation for the font was discovered by the south door, but the font was installed for a time beneath the tower; it was later moved to the present position in the chancel. The entry for this church in LEX Danmarks Nationalleksikon [https://lex.dk/Rimsø_Kirke] [accessed 11 December 2024] reports a Romanesque baptismal font made of granite; it stands in the nave in front of the chancel archl it consists of a plain basin on a round fluted base and a modern square plinth.
