Renaissance baptismal font of 1609 decorated with four Biblical scenes listed and illustrated in Schulin (2021): "Eine weitere Gruppe von TB aus der Renaissance verdient eine besondere Würdigung: TB mit (und zwar meist strikt vertikal) zylindrischen Kuppen, die intensive, geradezu ausladende Reliefdarstellungen in effektvoller Farbigkeit aufweisen und vor allem in Sachsen anzutreffen sind. Beispiel: das TB in Ev. Unserer
The entry for this church in the German Wikipedia [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadtkirche_Penig] [accessed 28 September 2024] reports a baptismal font of 1609 by Gabriel Eckardt: "Der Taufstein von Gabriel Eckardt aus dem Jahr 1609 ist mit figurenreichen Reliefs versehen". The font consists of a cylindrical basin with a rounded underbowl raised on a round pedestal base; the sides of the basin are decorated with four cartouches, each of which with a Biblical scene in it; each scene is accompanied by a related German inscription; between the cartouches are four protruding elaborate scrolls; the base is decorated with four heads set at 90-degree angles, possibly cherubs or putti, with abundant fruits around them.
