The entry for this church in the Ev.-Luth. Kirchspiel Kohrener Land - Wyhratal web site [https://kirche-frohburg.de/startseite/unsere-gemeinden/kirchgemeinde-priessnitz-floessberg/kirche-elbisbach/] [accessed 21 September 2024] reports that the present church was built on the remains of an older one, of which a Romanesque baptismal font made of porphyry has been retained: "Aus allen Richtungen ist sie sichtbar, die hübsche barocke Dorfkirche mit ihrem hohen Turm und dem auffallenden grünen Farbanstrich. Sie wurde auf den Resten einer älteren Kirche errichtet, von welcher der romanische Taufstein aus Porphyr erhalten ist." The same source illustrates the later wooden font in the new church. The entry for this church in the German Wikipedia [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorfkirche_Elbisbach] [accessed 21 September 2024] reports a large wooden font in it, profusely decorated with acanthus motifs: "Die große oktogonale Holztaufe mit reichem Schmuck in geschweifter Form ist ebenfalls mit Akanthusschmuck ausgestattet."
