Scene Description: Source caption: "Die Stadtpfarrkirche St. Nikolai in Bad Liebenwerda ist ein spätgotisches Bauwerk, dessen genaues Baudatum unbekannt ist. Nach einem Brand setzte sich Friedrich III. (Sachsen) dafür ein, sie im Jahr 1515 wieder aufzubauen. Aus den Jahren 1519 und 1544 sind Besuche Martin Luthers überliefert. Im Innern befinden sich eine neugotische Kanzel sowie eine prachtvolle Flachdecke, die August Oetken im Jahr 1911 gestaltete. Die Glasmalereien in den vier Fenstern des Chors zeigen die Taufe Jesu, Geburt, Kreuzung und Auferstehung Jesu Christi. Sie stammen aus dem Jahr 1908 und entstanden in der Werkstatt von Gerstner und Werner in Görlitz und gehen auf Stiftungen des Apothekers Liebe sowie dem Büromaschinenhersteller Reiss zurück. Sehenswert ist weiterhin eine Fünte aus Sandstein aus dem Jahr 1671. sowie ein überlebensgroßes Kruzifix vor einem Triumphkreuz an der Südwand, das vermutlich aus dem 16. oder 17. The entry for this church in the Evagelische Kirchengemiende Bad Liebenwerda / EKM [https://www.kirche-badliebenwerda.de/gemeinde-und-kirchen/bad-liebenwerda-0421/st-nikolai-kirche/] [accessed 9 June 2024] reports a baptismal font made of sandstone in the early-Baroque period bearing the date 5 June 1671 on the basin; also on the basin are angels with hanging fruit bunches between them, while the square pedestal is decorated with stylised male masks ["der Taufstein (aus Sandstein) mit frühbarockem Dekor, datiert: 5. Juni 1671, an der achteckigen Kuppa Engelsflüchte zwischen Fruchtgehängen, am quadratischen Schaft charaktervolle, meisterhaft stilisierte Männermasken"] [NB: the same source notes that the font was moved to its present more spacious location in 2020].
