A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 5 June 2024) informs: "The “Messager des Sciences” of the year 1856 contains an article “Notice historique sur l’église primaire de Saint-Sulpice à Diest” by the priest F.J. Raymaekers; on page 59, he mentions that local craftsmen casted a new bronze baptismal font; the lifting device for the lid was made in forged iron, probably by Jean Zeghers." The Notice historique [cf. supra] further notes that the foundry received payment for the font "la somme de 70 couronnes, outre une robe de drap, dont le prix s'élevait à 7 gripen". Everything is lost during the 16th-century unsettled times, the church being badly damaged, especially in 1580.
