Font Notes:
The entry for this church in Bourgogne romane [http://www.bourgogneromane.com/edifices/stmauricedeschamps.htm] [accessed 23 April 2024] notes and illustrates a baptismal font decorated with four human heads set at 90-degraa angles below the upper rim of the basin ["Fonts baptismaux avec têtes sculptées"]. Ditto in Bourgogne médiévale [https://bourgognemedievale.com/departement-et-pays/saone-et-loire/pays-chalonnais-sud-cote-chalonnaise/saint-maurice-champs/] [accessed 23 April 2024]. The baptismal font here is also noted in La Bougone [https://www.burgundy-tourism.com/religious-monuments/eglise-saint-maurice-5] [accessed 23 April 2024]: "Romanesque baptismal tank decorated with sculpted heads." The upper area of the basin shows a circular indentation to fit a round cover, and drilled holes for cover anchorings, one of which has caused damage to the top of a head; on a broader circular base. No cover present.
