Font Notes:
Baptismal font listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10119547] [accessed 13 April 2024]: "fonts baptismaux [...] gothique [...] hauteur approximative 113 cm [...] Date: 1501 - 1600"; the brass cover is also listed [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10119548] [accessed 13 April 2024]. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 6 January 2024) notes: "The whereabouts of this font are unknown. The church has been largely demolished. Ombret had no church at all before 1722 (KIK-IRPA says : "la chapelle d'Ombret avait été bénie le 28 octobre 1712") It is therefore bizarre that its baptismal font dates from the 16th century. Or could it be true that Jean-Claude Ghislain is right : "the older styles of fonts were copied over and over again (as the modelling tools still existed), gothic-looking Mosan fonts were manufactured up into the 19th century? The KIK-IRPA dating of well-preserved fonts must be questioned, many fonts attributed to the 16/17th century are much younger?""
