Font Notes:
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 24 December 2023) informs of two objects of related interest in the garden of the former priory: a baptismal font, said to be 12thC and a holy-water stoup [no date/period given]. The illustration show one of the two objects, a cylindrical vessel of stone decorated with a moulding and a band of foliage all around; its inner basin is also round; it is raised on a rough quadrangular block of stone, and located in a small clearing of the priory garden; the second object appears to be a monolithic vessel resembling a chimney, with a square top basin with moulded sides; its inner basin is round. [NB: we have not been able to get confirmation about their origin or function; is it possible that the cylindrical object was the font of the parish church nearby?]
