The entry for this church in Katholisch Mainz-City [https://bistummainz.de/cityseelsorge/mainz/unsere-kirchen/st.-christoph/] [accessed 9 April 2024] mentions a Gothic baptismal font in the Lombardic style here; iy further notes that Gutenberg was baptised here but in which font is uncertain ["Im Vorraum der St. Christophskirche befindet sich ein Taufstein aus gotischer Zeit im lombardischen Stil. Dass Johannes Gutenberg in dieser, seiner Pfarrkirche getauft wurde ist ziemlich sicher - ob es allerdings genau dieser Taufstein war, ist heute nicht mehr zu beweisen."] The font, which is now located in an active chapel inside the maintained ruins of the former parish church, consists of an octagonal (inside and out) basin with a rounded underbowl, the sides painted and decorated with gilded tracery, raised on a pedestal base with a central shaft and four seated lion set at 90-degree angles of it.
