The entry for this church in the Evangelische-lutherische Kirchengemeinde Selent [https://www.kirche-selent.de/index.php?link=kirchengemeinde&sublink=kirchen] [accessed 9 April 2024] mentions an ancient baptismal font found in the tower. An article by Anja Rüstmann in the 11 May 2022 edition of the Kieler Nachrighten [https://www.kn-online.de/lokales/ploen/st-servatius-kirche-zu-selent-wird-825-jahre-alt-TG4CSUVOPHRNND4OOD4EO7BAG4.html] [accessed 9 April 2024] notes and illustrates a baptismal font of granite, originally from the church in Selent, that had been relegated to serve as water-trough for the chickens in the pastor's garden between 1848 and 1947; between those years a new neo-Gothic font had replaced its function inside the church; the old font was later restored to the church ["Dieser Taufstein aus Granit war nicht immer gewollt in der Selenter Kirche. Von 1898 bis 1947 wurde er durch einen neugotischen Taufstein aus Sandstein ersetzt. Aus dem Pastoratsgarten holte man ihn schließlich zurück - dort hatte er zwischenzeitlich als Hühnertränke gedient"]. Riechert (2015) mentions this font as one of a group of fonts in Germany he labels "Betonwerkstein" ["Wo Beton auch als »Betonwerkstein« verwendet wurde ist im Einzelfall schwer nachzuweisen, wie z.B. die Taufsteine von Wankendorf /Plön, Selent/Plön, Aukrug/Rendsburg und Carlow /Mecklenburg-Vorpommern"; this author (ibid.) further notes that when the old granite basin was restored to the church in 1948 it was mounted on new granite legs.
