Church Notes: 12thC church much modified since
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 26 October 2023) includes an old B&W photograph showing a tub-shaped font in the outdoors, by a brick wall; the basin appears octagonal at the upper end and shows a rim cut to accommodate a round font cover on it; it is decorated with a row of horseshoe-shaped arch-heads all around below the upper rim; the underbowl is rounded and plain; it stands on a short and plain round-to-square base and a square plinth, equally plain. No cover present. A set of photographs taken in 2010 by Jörg Blobelt [cf. ImagesArea] show the font inside the Evangelish-lutherische Kirche Knobelsdorf, located in the southeast area of the nave, by the foot of the pulpit. The font could well be the original of the 12th-century church here.
