The entry for this church in Dithmarschen Tourismus [https://www.echt-dithmarschen.de/typisch-dithmarschen/sehenswuerdigkeiten/details/st-annen-kirche/] [accessed 6 March 2024] describes the baptismal font in it as made of dark Belgian limestone in the late-15th century dates from the end of the 15th century; the rather small octagonal basin has human heads set at 90-degree angles below the upper rim ["Aus dem Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts stammt die Taufe aus dunklem belgischen Stein. Das recht kleine achtseitige Taufbecken, mit vier Köpfen geschmückt"]. [NB: the baluster-shaped pedestal base suggests a later (17th?) date than the basin]
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 25 October 2023) conveys a local legend by which a local pirate,Pidder Lyng (der lange Peter von Sylt, born after 1436) , wanted to exchange the [a?] font for a local girl (not clear what he got instead). Pol Herman mentions other Mosan type fonts in the area: "Pellworm (Alte Kirche), where a legend says that it replaces the older bronze font that was stolen by the pirate Cort Wiederich, who placed it in the Sankt Clemens church of Büsum. Uelvesbüll, Kotzenbüll, Stapel."
