The entry for this church in the Inventaris Onroerend Erfgoed [https://inventaris.onroerenderfgoed.be/erfgoedobjecten/86025] [accessed 2 March 2024] lists a baptismal font made of limestone ca. 1530-1550, located in the north portal; the entry also reports three holy-water stoups, made of limestone in the 16th century ["Doopvont in het noordelijke portaal, hardsteen, Maasland (1530-50) [...] Drie wijwatervaten, hardsteen (15de eeuw)"]. Listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/78220] [accessed 2 March 2024] as a baptismal font made of limestone between 1501 and 1600; it gives the height as 159 cm, which includes the cover as well. The KIK-IRPA entry above cites C. Ceulemans and R. Didier, Inventaris van de gotische figuratieve beeldsnijkunst uit de periode 1380-1550, bewaard in Belgisch Limburg, (Sint-Truiden, 1990), nr. 51, as source.
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 24 October 2023) surmises that the fonts at Hannêche and Bocholt, and the stoup at Seilles were probably made in the mid-16th century in the same workshop; the three objects are not identical but share many of the design and decoration characteristics."
A further communication from Pol Herman (e-mail of 24 March 2026) refers to an article in the journal Maasgouw of 1905 written by historian Jozef Habets : « Archeologische wandeling door de Limburgse Kempen ». On page 40, he writes about the church at Bocholt : in het klokhuis vonden wij de overblijfsels eener schone romaansche doopvont (on the bellcote floor we found the remains of a beautiful Romanesque baptismal font). I find no trace of this object."
