Font Notes:
One of two medieval fonts in this church noted in the entry for this church in Norodowy Instytut Dziedzictwo [https://zabytek.pl/pl/obiekty/chelmno-kosciol-farny-pw-wniebowziecia-nmp] [accessed 24 February 2024]: "gotycka chrzcielnica z XIV w." [cf. BSI entry Chelmno No. 1 for the Fröjelgruppen font]. The baptismal font in use in this church consists of a quatrefoil-shaped basin raised on equally shaped pedestal base; the basin itself appears to be of an amalgam, perhaps volcanic stone; only the upper border has been finished and polished, the rest left rough but with a few motifs that look like 4-petal flowers carved on it; the rest of the font is of a different stone, probably limestone. The font cover is composite: the lower half appears to be made of lead and has the quatrefoiled shape to match the basin top, whereas the upper half is made of metal in the shape of a crown, with an orb-and-cross finial; only the upper half of the cover lifts via a pulley to provide access to the basin interior.
