Font Notes:
Listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10045183] [accessed 14 February 2024] as a compound baptismal font made of 12th-century lower base and the rest, stem and basin, of 1737, dated by an inscription on the basin side ["fonts baptismaux [...] hauteur: 97 cm [...] fût et cuve: 1737 [...] base du XIIè: 15 X 75 X 71". This source gives the material as "petit granit[f]" and "taillé[pierre]". The wooden cover is flat, round and plain; modern [NB: the stem of the base has been dated to the late-16th or early-17th century by the stonemason's mark on it [cf. infra]]. [partially quoted from [http://paroisse-solresursambre.be/eglises/clocher-de-hantes-wiheries/]] A further communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 6 October 2023) forwards an e-mail from Jean-Louis Van Belle, founder of the CIRG Centre International de Recherche Glyptographique, to Pol Herman informing him that the stonemason mark on the lower side of the stem of the base is well known, belonging to Jacques Le Vassal, who worked in the late-16th century in Feluy- Arquennes, Belgium: "je connais bien cette marque , il s’agit de la marque de Jacques LE VASSAL qui vécut dans la seconde moitié du XVIe s et qui fut maître de carrière à Feluy- Arquennes.
