Scene Description: Source caption: "Südostansicht der katholischen Pfarrkirche hl. Ägydius in der niederösterreichischen Bezirkshauptstadt Korneuburg. Eine gotische Staffelkirche mit hohem Dach am nördlichen Rand der Altstadt. Der Chor, die Sakristei und das südliche Seitenschiff wurden in der 2. Hälfte des 14. Jahrhunderts errichtet. Ursprünglich hatte die Kirche Doppeltürme; der nördliche wurde bei der tiefgreifenden Renovierung im 17. Jahrhundert abgetragen. 1846 erfolgte eine Einwölbung des Mittelschiffes im neugotischen Stil. Von 1870 bis 1903 fand eine weitere tiefgreifende Renovierung statt. Bei dieser wurde unter anderem der Turm und die Westfassade neu errichtet."

The entry for this church in the Austrian Wikipedia [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pfarrkirche_Korneuburg] [accessed 11 February 2024] mentions an undated monumental baptismal font made of red marble on a dodecagonal base NB: the base appears round in the recent photographs]; the cover is made of bronzed wood with a huge finial of the Baptism of Jesus, cascading water and all; located at the west end of the south aisle ["Im Zentrum der Apsis unter dem Schlussstein des Evangelisten Markus steht auf einem zwölfeckigen Sockel das nicht datierte, monumentale Taufbecken aus rotem Marmor. Der aus bronziertem Holz gefertigte Taufdeckel mit der barocken Darstellung der Taufe Jesu ist im Eingangsbogen der Beichtkapelle am Westende des südlichen Seitenschiffes angebracht"].
