No cover present. The baptismal font in use is 19th-century, listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10111408] [accessed 10 February 2024]; it consists of a small basin held on the head of a standing angel [cf. ImagesArea]. [cf. BSI entry for Mortroux for an object listed as a holy-water stoup]
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 23 September 2023) notes: "The baptismal font is said to be 16th century or “around 1500”, this is probably true for the square/octagonal base which shows typical Mosan gothic characteristics. However, the column and the basin are at odds with this Mosan style. They resemble late Romanesque / early gothic (13th century ?) fonts that can be found in Germany. For example the font at Laichingen. I think that the font of Mortroux is unique in Belgium. A petrographic analysis could maybe proof if it is made of Mosan limestone."
