A roughly hemispherical basin with plain sides is used as planter outside the church; it shows evidence of damage to the upper rim area; it could be the discarded font of the medieval building here.
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 13 September 2023) includes a photograph of the disused font and notes that a Romanesque baptismal font, a round granite cauldron is still preserved and is clear evidence that Niedernondorf was already cared for pastorally before 1300
["Der romanische Taufstein, ein runder Granitkessel, der noch erhalten ist, ist ein deutlicher Beweis, dass Niedernondorf schon vor 1300 seelsorglich betreut war"].
