The Erik Martens & Partners Architektenburo report [dossiernummer: 1605/13/478.0. -- 20/11/2018] [00_Houthalen_St._Martinuskerk_Beheersplan.pdf] [accessed 2 February 2024] reports and illustrates what are believed to be fragments of an ancient baptismal font built into In the second section on the south side of both the tower and the extended stair tower there are two heads carved from natural stone. These natural stone inserts, just like the grave crosses, do not fit nicely into the masonry bond. This may be the recovery of parts of older damaged or destroyed baptismal fonts. The broadening behind the head, the horizontal band on the head and the lack of an onset to an underlying body part point in that direction. The two masks are aligned in the same facade, inserted at considerable height (half of the tower).
