Font Notes:
Described and illustrated as a fragment of a Tournai-type baptismal font in Van Belle (2003): the fragment of Tournai limestone was found during the excavation of areas of the Sint-Salvatorkathedraal in Bruges; it is rectangular and measures 107 cm in length and 23 cm in height; the surviving fragment appears to be of one whole side of a square basin, and is decorated with three resting birds (?); the author suggests there may be some similarities with the font at Lichterwelde. The fragment is now [2023+] wall-mounted on a sacristy wall. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 22 August 2023) points out some similarities of the decorative work on this fragment with fragments of the font at Lessines.
