Font Notes:
Baptismal font listed in Palissy [ref.: IM18000677]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: IVR24_19951800175X, IVR24_19951800174X]. The object is rather odd for a font and could be a composite; not clear whether the 19th-century dating in Palissy [cf. supra] refers to the whole font, a part of it or its cover. The divsions indicated above probably refer to the lead insert, not the stone basin. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 11 May 2023) includes an inquire he sent to an auction house [Michel DARMANCIER – Olivier CLAIR] in whose offerings list [103753_28301897_eb2318f47802d2c3968956e186ca58da.pdf] [accessed 1 January 2024] appears under lot#178 a baptismal font from the church at Saint Christophe le Chaudry "Art roman : fonts baptismaux pierre, forme circulaire à pans coupés Provenance : Eglise de Saint Christophe le Chaudry Hauteur : 37 cm Ø 73 cm" [NB: no image available and the measurements do noy match those Palissy]
