Baptismal font listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/10011279] [accessed 22 December 2023]: "fonts baptismaux [...] Date: 1401 - 1500 [...] hauteur: 107 cm [...] couvercle 19ème, Numéro IRPA 11280; couvercle 20ème, Numéro IRPA 11281". A 1905 photograph in BALaT KIK-IRPA shows a large octagonal dome-shaped font of wood(?), plain except for moulded arrises and lower rim' more recent photographs [1944+] show a different cover, of metal [brass?], also octagonal dome but smaller, with panels decorated with inscribed medallion-like motifs, and with a Latin-cross finial [cf. ImagesArea]. A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 8 April 2023) in a comment about the font formerly from Jabbeke, now in the Loppem Castle Museum, notes: "This type of font is rare in Belgium. The font of Chièvres could be similar." [NB: the similarity is indeed there, even though the arch-head decoration is not identica]
