Font Notes:
Baptismal font listed and illustrated in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/6334]: "doopvont [...] Date: 1501 - 1600 / Date: 1601 - 1700 [...] ardsteen, koper, koper [...] hoogte: 156 cm". A 16th-century baptismal font in this church is noted in Brasseur Trekels' De opmaak van een onroerenderfgoedbeheersplan voor de Sint-Lambertuskerk, Overlaar (Tienen) met kerkhof en kerkhofmuur (2018) [Beheersplan_Lambertus_hoofdstuk_1-7.pdf] [accessed 19 December 2023] ["In het parochiecentrum zijn ook nog de 16e eeuwse doopvont"]; the composite font consisting of a 17th-century copper basin on a 16th-century late-Gothic limestone base, was moved in 1980 to the new church ["In 1980 werden de volgende elementen weggenomen uit de kerk en in het nieuwe parochiecentrum geplaatst: 16e eeuwse doopvont: laatgotische polygonale voet in maaskalksteen met koperen kuip uit de 17e eeuw"]. A communication to BSI by Pol Herman (e-mail of 4 April 2023) informs: "Since 1980, the Sint-Lambertus church is no longer used for worship, because it had been replaced by a new church building, Sint-Jozef, at Nieuw-Overlaar, located closer to the village centre. Currently, there is no interior furniture left inside the church. The disused 16th century baptismal font is preserved in the parish centre. The late Gothic polygonal base in Mosan limestone dating from the 16th century carries a 17th century brass spherical basin that is fixed to the column by means of hooks. Removable lid with a cross at the top. The base is damaged. Because the modern Saint-Joseph church (built 1971) was sold in 2020 to house a local school, the Saint-Lambert church will be used again for worship services, more specifically for wedding and baptismal ceremonies. The baptismal font must be returned to the church."
