The web entry for this castle [https://www.chateaumareuil.com/history?lang=fr] [accessed 2 December 2023] reports an ancient baptismal font now kept in the interior of the castle, and a holy-water stoup wall-mounted at the entrance ["On a découvert des fonts baptismaux anciens qui ont maintenant été soigneusement placés dans le salon du château. A côté de l'ancienne porte d'entrée du château, se trouve un bénitier, qui contiendrait de l'eau bénite pour que les habitants se signent / An ancient baptismal font was discovered which has now been carefully positioned in the chateau’s salon. By the chateau’s ancient front door, is positioned a font, such as would contain blessed holy water for the inhabitants to cross themselves with."
A communication from the owners to a BSI request (-mail of 3 December 2023) included information and photographs of three related objects in the castle: the wall-mounted stoup noted above, and two other vessels of stone; one, now installed on a window sill inside, is a fragment of a rounded stone vessel, about 20 cm in height, and about 40 cm in diameter. The other, larger and oval in shape, is located in the garden serving as planter [NB: at this stage we are unable to confirm whether or not these were liturgical vessels originally]
