Font Notes:
Listed in BALaT KIK-IRPA [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/68875] [accessed 29 November 2023] as a holy-water stoup originally from Sint-Pieter [Leuven]; made of marble in 1623 by Guil. Wargnies Monten according to an inscription on the rim of its basin. Round basin with wide scotia all around; inscription on the rim; raised on a baluster-shaped pedestal base, on a square lower base.
A communication to BSI from Pol Herman (e-mail of 20 February 2023) informs: "This baptismal font is not mentioned as a font in the database of KIK-IRPA, but as a stoup [https://balat.kikirpa.be/object/68875] It was originally a stoup, and is made of white veined red marble. It was ordered in 1623 by the canon Guillaume de Wargnies from Mons (1573-1628), and was intended for the chapter church of Sint-Pieter at Leuven. In 2016 it was moved to the Sint-Jozef church, to serve as baptismal font. The [lower?] original base was replaced by a block of marble. Total height : 95 cm. Square base : 50 x 50 cm. Inscription on the rim of the basin : D. AC. M. GVIL. WARGNIES. MONTEN. S. P. L. C. M. 1623" [NB: the discrepancy in the height measurement is due to the replacement of the lower base; KIK-IRPA has a taller one of limestone, which has been replaced by a shorter one in a marble closer in colour to the rest of the stoup, hence the 111 cm vs 95 cm discrepancy].
