Church Notes: The disappeared church originally of the late-9thC stood on a hill E of Nußdorf, a few kilometers from the location of the current church; much modified through the centuries; demolished in 1745 -- present church, Klosterkirche Birnau, was consecrated in 1747
Font Notes:
An object of interest lies now outside the present Wallfahrtskirche Birnau built in 1747; it is used as a bird bath; it resembles a baptismal font and may have been originally used in the old pilgrim's church on a hill in nearby Nußdorf that was demolished in 1745; it does not look medieval and is certainly a composite object; the basin, perhaps, dating somewhere between the 16th and 18th centuries.
