The font in this church is briefly mentioned in Mackeprang (1944). It is noted in Søren Kaspersen's Jyske fonte med modstillede løver.[1] Et præliminært studie, 17.8.2016 klo 23.15 | Tieteelliset artikkelit | TAHITI 04/2016 [https://tahiti.journal.fi/article/view/85640/44590] [accessed 16 November 2023], who mentions a mask-like head with prickly animal ears between two lions on it ["At man i hvert fald ikke uden videre kan slutte fra triadisk komposition til Kristushoved, viser f.eks. den primitive font i Albøge kirke, på hvis kumme der mellem to brølende(?) løver ses et maskeagtigt hoved med strittende dyreører, som næppe kan være Kristus"]. Noted and illustrated in the Norddjurs Midt Pastorat [https://norddjursmidtpastorat.dk/page/48/kirkens-historie] [accessed 19 November 2023] as a Romanesque baptismal font from ca. 1200 carved with lions; it was painted until the bright red-brick paint was removed in 1883 ["Døbefonten fra omkring år 1200 er romansk, udhugget med løvefigurer. Den har indtil 1883 været bemalet med murfarve."].
