Noted and illustrated in Søren Kaspersen's Jyske fonte med modstillede løver.[1] Et præliminært studie, 17.8.2016 klo 23.15 | Tieteelliset artikkelit | TAHITI 04/2016 [https://tahiti.journal.fi/article/view/85640/44590] [accessed 19 November 2023]: a baptismal font with two pairs of lions; in one pair the lions face from each other; the other pair are part of scene that has a human head in the centre, with a dragon head with its jaws open right below the numan head; on each side a lion passant; Kaspersen (ibid.) suggests that the large head is the head of Christ, a suggestion supported by the fact that the lion is confronted by a dragon's head rising from the lower part of the basin, which is probably a reference to Christ's overcoming death through the descent into Hades ["Og på fonten i Skjød kirke, som hører sammen med den i Vitten, er et mandshoved flankeret af to bevægede løver tydeligvis større og i højere relief end det modstående hoved, omgivet af to fra hinanden bortvendte løver.[52] At det store hoved er et Kristushoved støttes af, at løven heraldisk tv. er konfronteret med et dragehoved, der stikker op fra kummens nedre bort, hvilket sikkert er en henvisning til Kristi overvindelse af døden gennem nedfarten til dødsriget"]; the base is round-tosquare, with a rope moulding at the top, the side panels framed in semicircular mouldings in which are a variety of motifs; little human heads in the spandrels. No cover present; a brass baptismal dish is in use. The entry for this church in the Danish Wikipedia [https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skjød_Kirke] [accessed 19 November 2023] reports a baptismal font here of the so-called 'lion fonts' ["Døbefonten er i romansk stil og hører til de såkaldte løvefonte"].
